Unlimited Enchantments Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get enchanted books with levels above the normal limit?
You must combine enchanted books in an anvil—you cannot obtain high-level enchantments directly from an enchanting table. Start by creating or finding two books with the same enchantment, then combine them repeatedly to reach higher levels.
Can I enchant items directly to level 255 or do I have to use books?
You must use enchanted books combined in an anvil; you cannot enchant items directly beyond the normal limit. The enchanting table will not produce high-level enchantments on its own.
What's the fastest way to combine books to reach level 255?
Combine two identical enchantment level X books to create one level X+1 book, then repeat this process. Each combination costs experience levels in the anvil, so gather plenty of experience before attempting high-level combinations.
Do I need Creative Mode to use this data pack?
No—Creative Mode is only mentioned in the wiki because the Creative Mode Ingredients tab displays enchantments for reference. You can use this data pack in Survival Mode by combining books in an anvil.
How do I search for specific enchantments in Creative Mode?
Open the Creative Mode Ingredients tab, use the search bar to type the enchantment name, and you'll see books with that enchantment at levels 1 through 255 available to grab.
Will ultra-high enchantments make my game lag or crash?
Very high enchantment levels may impact performance depending on your system, especially if you apply multiple level 255 enchantments to many items. Test with a few high-level items first to see how your game handles it.
Can I combine different enchantments on the same item?
Yes—you can apply multiple different enchantments to a single tool or weapon by combining books with different enchantment types in the anvil, just like normal Minecraft.
Does this data pack work with other mods or data packs?
This data pack modifies vanilla enchantment mechanics, so compatibility depends on what other mods or data packs you're using; test them together in a test world first to check for conflicts.
What happens if I try to combine a level 255 book with another level 255 book?
The anvil will combine them into a level 256 book, but the game's display may cap the visual level at 255 depending on how the data pack handles values beyond that threshold.
Can I get ultra-high enchantments on armor the same way as weapons?
Yes—combine enchanted books in an anvil and apply them to armor pieces just as you would with tools and weapons; the process is identical.
