Troubleshoot Missing Chat Messages Between Minecraft and External Platforms

Verify Connection Settings

First, check that your config.yml has the correct values:

  • url points to your running Matterbridge instance (include the port)
  • gateway name matches exactly what you configured in Matterbridge
  • token is provided if your Matterbridge requires authentication

Check Matterbridge Status

Ensure Matterbridge is actually running and accessible. Test the URL in a browser or use network tools to confirm the service responds. Verify that your gateway is active and connected to your Discord server (or other platform).

Restart and Test

Save any config changes and restart your Minecraft server. Have a player send a test message in-game.

Review Logs

If messages still don't appear, check your server logs and Matterbridge logs for errors. Common issues include network connectivity problems, incorrect gateway names, or authentication failures. Confirm firewall settings allow communication between your Minecraft server and Matterbridge.
