Manage Mana Loss When Canceling Spells
How Spell Cancellation Costs Mana
When you roll to dodge during a spell cast, Unified Combat applies a Mana Penalty—you lose mana points on top of the spell's normal cost. This discourages panic-rolling and rewards careful timing.
Reducing Unnecessary Cancellations
1. Use Roll Queue: Press dodge just before your spell finishes casting. Your character will automatically roll after the magic fires, preserving your mana
2. Plan your positioning: Move into safe spots before casting long-duration spells
3. Learn enemy patterns: Anticipate attacks so you don't need emergency dodges
Adjusting Mana Penalty Settings
Open your Unified Combat configuration and find the Mana Cost setting for spell cancellation. You can:
- Lower the penalty to make canceling more forgiving
- Increase it to make spell commitment more tactical
- Set it to zero if you prefer no mana loss (though Spell Cooldown will still apply)
Combine with Spell Cooldown
Remember that canceling a spell also triggers Spell Cooldown, preventing you from recasting that spell immediately. Plan your mana usage around both penalties.
