Troubleshoot Enchanting Table Not Detecting Bookshelves

Check Submersion Status

Verify that both your enchanting table and bookshelves are fully submerged in water. The mod detects bookshelves underwater, but they must actually be in water. If your setup is in an air pocket, the mod won't activate—drain the area or move to a fully flooded location.

Verify Bookshelf Placement

1. Confirm bookshelves are positioned according to vanilla enchanting rules (the mod doesn't change detection distance or angles)

2. Check that bookshelves aren't blocked by solid blocks between them and the table

3. Ensure you have enough bookshelves—the mod requires the same quantity as surface setups

4. Reopen the enchanting table interface to refresh detection

Test Configuration

If enchantment levels still aren't increasing, try placing a bookshelf directly adjacent to the table in open water. If this works, your previous arrangement may have had spacing issues. If it doesn't work, ensure the entire area is submerged—even small air pockets can prevent detection.

The mod uses standard bookshelf detection, so if your setup works on land, it will work underwater with proper submersion.
