Recovering Materials from Enchanted or Damaged Tools

Understanding Enchanted Item Uncrafting

Enchanted tools and armor can often be uncrafted, but the mod's behavior with enchantments varies by recipe. Some uncrafting recipes will preserve enchantments on component materials, while others may strip them. Test with low-value items first.

Uncrafting Damaged Gear

Partially damaged tools and armor can be uncrafted just like pristine items. The durability of the original item doesn't prevent uncrafting—you'll still recover the full set of component materials. This makes uncrafting an excellent way to recycle worn-out gear.

What You'll Recover

When you uncraft a tool or piece of armor, you'll receive the base materials used in its original crafting recipe. For example, uncrafting a pickaxe returns the sticks and ore blocks or ingots that formed it.

Planning Your Recycling

If you have many damaged items taking up space, batch-uncraft them to free inventory and recover materials for new projects. This is especially useful after mining trips or combat when your tools are worn.
