Achieve Vanilla Aesthetics While Using Shaders

Understand UltraVanilla's Design Philosophy

UltraVanilla is specifically built to enhance vanilla Minecraft's appearance without drastically changing its look. Unlike heavy shader packs, it preserves block colors, textures, and overall atmosphere while adding realistic shadows and water reflections.

Configure Lighting Subtly

Open Shader Options and look for brightness, contrast, or saturation controls. Keep these near default values—UltraVanilla works best when adjustments are minimal. The goal is enhancement, not transformation.

Disable Extreme Effects

Avoid enabling any options for bloom, lens flare, or color grading if you want pure vanilla aesthetics. These features, if present, create a more stylized look that deviates from vanilla.

Test in Different Lighting

Load into your world during different times of day—sunrise, noon, sunset, and night. Observe how shadows and reflections interact with vanilla lighting. Adjust shader settings if any effect feels too pronounced or unnatural.

Compare Before and After

Toggle shaders on and off (using Iris controls) to see the difference side-by-side. This helps you verify that UltraVanilla is enhancing rather than replacing vanilla visuals.
