Create a Tournament Lance from a Spear

Prepare Your Spear

First, obtain a spear by crafting it with the standard vanilla recipe. The material of your spear determines which colored lance you can create—iron, diamond, and netherite spears each have unique lance variants available.

Rename in an Anvil

1. Place your spear in an anvil

2. In the name field, type one of the lance names: Adler Lance, Hirsch Lance, Lowen Lance, or Wolf Lance

3. Confirm the rename

4. Your spear will transform into a colored tournament lance with a new sprite

Visual Result

The renamed spear now displays as a proper lance with distinct coloring and a more ornate appearance than the standard spear. Each lance name produces a different visual style, letting you customize your polearm's look while maintaining the same functionality as a spear.

You can rename spears at any time, so experiment with different names to find your preferred aesthetic. The transformation is purely visual and works with any spear material tier.
