Trial Bolt Secure Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I lock my first chest?
Rename a trial key (ominous or normal) in an anvil to anything you want, then hold it and right-click a chest, barrel, or shulker box. The container is now locked to that key name—only players with a key bearing the exact same name can open it without lockpicking.
Can I lock a double chest with one key?
Yes, locking one half of a double chest locks both halves to the same key. You only need to right-click one side.
What happens if I lose my key?
You can use the `/chestlockrecover confirm` command to pay a fee and unlock your own container, but this only works if you're the original owner. Otherwise, you'll need to craft lockpicks and solve the minigame to break in.
Do lockpicks break every time I use them?
Lockpicks have a durability bar and a chance to break on each attempt—Rusty Picks break often, Normal Picks break sometimes, and Silence Picks almost never break. A successful pick doesn't consume durability, but failed attempts do.
Can I trade my key to another player?
Yes, keys are bound to their name, not to a player profile, so you can drop or give a renamed key to anyone. They'll be able to open containers locked to that key name.
What's the difference between the minigame and standard picking?
The minigame requires you to match pin depths in an interactive menu, while standard picking is purely chance-based. Use `/chestlock minigame` to toggle between them.
Does the mod work on servers?
Yes, Trial Bolt Secure works on multiplayer servers and is designed for roleplay and PvP scenarios. All lock data is saved to disk and reloads when the server restarts.
Can I unlock a container without a key or lockpick?
Only admins can use `/chestlock unlock` to force open a container. Regular players must either have the matching key or craft and use a lockpick to attempt entry.
What do I do if I forget the pin combination for my own chest?
If you own the container, use `/chestlockrecover confirm` to pay the recovery fee and regain access. If you don't own it, you'll need to lockpick it like any other player.
Can normal trial keys lock containers or only ominous keys?
By default, both normal and ominous trial keys can lock containers, but admins can disable normal keys with `/chestlock normalkeys` to restrict locking to ominous keys only.
