Make Trees Grow Based on Soil Block Type

Customize Trees by Planting Surface

Treeplacer allows you to control tree growth based on what block the sapling is planted on. For example, a sapling on dirt could grow one way, while the same sapling on sand grows differently.

Configuring Block-Based Rules

1. Open your mod configuration file.

2. Find the sapling you want to modify.

3. Look for the block-type or substrate rules section.

4. Add rules mapping specific blocks to tree types—for instance, sapling on grass block → oak tree, sapling on sand → acacia tree.

5. Save and reload.

Practical Applications

This feature is excellent for creating biome-appropriate forests automatically. Plant saplings across varied terrain and they'll adapt to their surroundings. You can also create gameplay mechanics where saplings only grow into useful trees on specific blocks, encouraging players to prepare soil carefully before planting.

Test by planting the same sapling on different blocks to confirm each grows the intended tree.
