Treeplacer Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start using Treeplacer Mod?
Create a configuration file in your mod's config folder, then define rules for how saplings should grow. The mod reads these rules when trees attempt to grow, so you can start customizing immediately without needing special items or crafting.
Can I make different saplings grow into different trees in the same biome?
Yes, you can create separate rules for each sapling type and specify different tree structures for each one, even within the same biome. This lets you have oak, birch, and spruce saplings all grow into completely different custom trees in the same location.
What block types can I use as conditions for tree growth?
You can use any solid block as a soil condition—dirt, grass, sand, stone, custom blocks, and more. This means you can make saplings grow different trees depending on whether they're planted on dirt versus sand versus other materials.
How do I create a 2×2 tree?
Define a custom tree structure in your configuration that specifies a 2×2 footprint, then assign that structure to a sapling rule. When four saplings are planted in a 2×2 pattern and the growth conditions are met, they'll grow into your custom large tree.
Do mushrooms work the same way as saplings?
Yes, you can apply custom growth rules to mushrooms just like saplings, including biome-specific growth, block-type conditions, and even creating large mushroom variants. Mushroom rules follow the same configuration structure as sapling rules.
What happens if I don't create a rule for a specific sapling?
Saplings without custom rules will grow using Minecraft's default behavior for that sapling type. Only saplings with defined rules in your configuration will be affected by the mod.
Can I make a sapling grow into a tree only in specific biomes?
Yes, you can create biome-specific rules that only apply to certain biomes, or you can create a rule that applies to all biomes. You can also exclude specific biomes from a rule if needed.
Will Treeplacer Mod affect performance or cause lag?
The mod only processes tree growth when saplings naturally attempt to grow, so performance impact is minimal. Complex custom tree structures may take slightly longer to generate, but this is typically unnoticeable.
Can I combine multiple conditions (biome AND soil type) for one sapling rule?
Yes, you can stack multiple conditions in a single rule so a sapling only grows into a specific tree when both the biome and block type match your requirements. This lets you create very specific growth scenarios.
Do I need to restart my world for configuration changes to take effect?
Configuration changes typically take effect when new saplings attempt to grow, though restarting your world ensures all changes are properly loaded. Check your mod's documentation for whether a reload is required for your specific version.
