how do i turn on treecapitator
TreeCapitator is active by default once the data pack is loaded, so just break a log with an axe or by hand and the whole tree should fall. If nothing happens, check that the pack is actually enabled for your world and that you're playing in a version it supports.
does treecapitator work with any axe
Yes, any axe works, and in most setups you can even trigger it by hand. The axe just needs to be able to break the log normally — a broken or unbreakable tool won't start the chain.
how do i stop treecapitator from destroying my house
Place a non-log block like a plank, slab, or stone between your build and the tree so the connected-log check can't reach it. You can also crouch while chopping, which in most versions limits the effect to a single block.
why does treecapitator only break some of the tree
It only fells logs that are connected to the one you broke, so leaves, branches, and detached logs stay put. If part of the trunk is missing or replaced with another block, the chain stops there.
does treecapitator work on modded trees
It works on any block tagged as a log, so most modded trees are fine as long as their logs use the standard log tag. Trees with custom wood types that aren't tagged won't be affected.
does treecapitator drop saplings and apples
It only removes the logs, so leaves decay naturally and drop saplings, sticks, and apples the same way they would if you'd chopped the tree by hand. Nothing about leaf drops changes.
can i use treecapitator on a server with other players
Yes, but the data pack has to be installed on the server, not just your client, or it won't do anything. On servers, the effect applies to whoever breaks the log, so make sure your build protections allow it.
does treecapitator work in creative mode
It generally does, but the instant-break behavior of creative mode can make it hard to tell whether the pack is doing anything. Switch to survival to confirm it's working.
will treecapitator lag my world
Felling a normal tree is instant and cheap, so you won't notice lag on regular trees. Very large custom trees with hundreds of connected logs can cause a brief spike, especially on weaker servers.
how do i disable treecapitator temporarily
The usual way is to crouch while breaking the log, which limits it to that single block without turning the pack off. If you want it fully off, disable the data pack in your world settings and re-enable it later.
