Tree Trimmer Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start using Tree Trimmer?
Simply break any log at the bottom of a tree trunk multiple times—each break removes one log block upward. The data pack handles everything automatically, so there's no special tool or command needed.
Do I have to break the bottom log, or can I break any log in the trunk?
You must break the bottom log of the tree. Breaking logs higher up won't trigger the felling mechanic.
How many times do I need to break the log?
Break the bottom log once for each log block in the trunk—a 10-block-tall tree requires 10 breaks. The data pack counts automatically and drops all logs once you've broken it enough times.
Does Tree Trimmer work on stripped logs?
Yes, Tree Trimmer works on both normal and stripped logs. The data pack correctly identifies the tree height and drops the right items regardless of whether logs are stripped.
What happens to leaves when I fell a tree?
Leaves are not affected by Tree Trimmer—they decay naturally after the logs are removed, following vanilla Minecraft behavior.
Can I use this on custom trees or modded wood?
Tree Trimmer only works on vanilla log blocks. Modded wood types are not supported unless the mod's logs are registered as vanilla log blocks.
Does this work in multiplayer or on servers?
Yes, Tree Trimmer works on multiplayer servers since it's a data pack. All players can use it simultaneously without conflicts.
Will Tree Trimmer cause lag or performance issues?
Tree Trimmer is lightweight and shouldn't cause noticeable lag. The data pack only activates when you break logs, so performance impact is minimal.
What if I break the log fewer times than the tree height—do I get partial logs?
No—logs only drop once you've broken the bottom log the correct number of times for the full tree height. Partial breaking won't give you any items.
Can I turn off Tree Trimmer without uninstalling it?
Yes, you can disable the data pack through your world settings or by using the `/datapack disable` command, then re-enable it anytime.
