How to Configure Tree Harvester Mod Settings for Your Playstyle
Locating the Config
Tree Harvester stores its options in a config file inside your Minecraft instance's config folder. Open it with any text editor. Changes generally apply after restarting the game or reloading the world.
The Options That Matter Most
replaceSaplingIfBottomLogIsBroken(default true): When on, the mod pulls a sapling from the tree's own drops and plants it where the base log was. Turn it off if you want to replant manually or if you are clearing land permanently.mustHoldAxeForTreeHarvest(default true): When on, only an axe triggers the full-tree harvest. Turn it off to allow any tool or bare hands.- Sneak toggle: Controls whether you must hold sneak to trigger harvesting. Disable it for friction-free logging, keep it on to avoid accidental tree removal while building.
- Durability loss settings: Control how much durability your axe loses per harvest. Some setups charge one use per tree; others charge per log. Pick the one that matches how grindy you want logging to feel.
Choosing a Playstyle
- Survival-friendly: keep axe requirement and sneak on, keep sapling replacement on, keep durability loss realistic.
- Fast builder/creative: turn off sneak and axe requirements, keep sapling replacement off so cleared land stays clear.
- Server admin: enable the stricter options so players cannot strip forests by accident.
Verifying Your Setup
Chop a test tree after each change and watch whether the trunk falls, whether a sapling appears, and whether your axe durability moved as expected.
