Tree Harvester Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start using Tree Harvester?
Just install the mod and chop the bottom block of any tree while holding the sneak button. By default, sneaking is required, so hold shift as you break the base log and the whole tree comes down at once.
Why isn't the whole tree breaking when I chop it?
You're most likely not sneaking. The mod only activates on the bottom log while you hold the sneak key by default, so hold shift before you break the block.
Do I need an axe to harvest a tree?
By default yes, the mod requires you to be holding an axe for the tree to fall. You can turn this requirement off in the config if you'd rather chop with anything.
Does Tree Harvester work on huge mushrooms and warped or crimson trees?
Yes. The mod handles huge mushrooms and the nether fungus trees (warped and crimson) the same way as normal trees, so chopping the base block brings the whole structure down.
Will it replant the sapling for me?
Yes, by default the mod automatically places a sapling back where the bottom log was, using one of the saplings that dropped from the tree. This is controlled by the replaceSaplingIfBottomLogIsBroken setting.
How do I stop having to sneak every time I chop a tree?
Turn off the sneak requirement in the mod's config. Once disabled, breaking the bottom log harvests the tree without you holding the sneak key.
Does harvesting a whole tree use up more durability on my axe?
Durability loss is configurable. Depending on your settings, the mod can apply durability loss for the extra blocks broken, so check the config if your axe seems to wear down faster than expected.
Why aren't the leaves disappearing after I harvest a tree?
Leaves decay quickly after a tree is harvested, but decay still takes a moment and only happens once the logs are gone. If leaves linger, make sure the whole trunk actually broke and wasn't blocked by an unbreakable or protected block.
Does Tree Harvester work with modded trees and other mods?
Yes, it supports vanilla and modded trees and is designed to work alongside other mods. Modded logs that follow normal log behavior are generally detected as part of the tree.
Will harvesting big trees cause lag on my server?
The mod is minimalistic and breaks the tree in one action, so it's generally light on performance. Very large modded trees can still cause a brief spike, but normal vanilla trees harvest smoothly.
