Making Translucent Textures Show Up

How to Get See-Through Textures Working

Transparent changes how certain models are drawn so that partially opaque pixels actually appear see-through instead of rendering as solid color. This applies to armor sets, armor stands, capes, paintings, end crystals, and dragon healing beams.

To use it, install the mod on your client and apply a resource pack whose textures contain partial opacity in those elements. In the unmodified game, those pixels would be forced to display fully solid; with Transparent installed, they render as translucent.

Each element can be toggled independently through a transparent.json file, which the mod reads for its settings. This lets a resource pack enable transparency only where it is wanted, without affecting the others.

Nothing is required on the server side. The mod runs entirely on your client, so it works on multiplayer servers without any changes there, and it adds no extra content to the game beyond the rendering behavior.
