Transparent FAQ
6 questions players actually ask, answered.
What does the Transparent mod actually do?
It changes how certain models like armor, capes, and paintings render so that resource packs can display partially see-through textures instead of forcing them to appear fully solid. It only affects those specific game elements, not the whole game.
Which game elements can have translucent textures unlocked?
Armor sets, armor stands, capes, paintings, end crystals, and dragon healing beams. Each of these can be toggled on or off individually.
Do I need to install anything on a multiplayer server to use it?
No, the mod runs entirely on your game client and requires no server-side changes. You can use it on servers without the server owner installing anything.
How does a resource pack control which elements get translucent rendering?
It reads settings from a transparent.json file, where each element can be turned on or off separately. This lets packs enable translucency only where they need it.
Why don't my partially transparent armor textures show up as see-through in vanilla?
In the default game, pixels with partial opacity on those models can't display transparency and get rendered as fully solid. The Transparent mod changes that rendering so the see-through pixels appear correctly.
Does the mod add any new blocks or items to the game?
No, it only changes how existing models render and adds no extra content. Its purpose is purely to enable translucent texture rendering for the listed elements.
