Transcending Trident Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I use Riptide without rain in this mod?
Hold a water bucket in your offhand while your trident with Riptide is in your main hand, then right-click to launch. The mod treats the offhand water bucket as your water source, so you don't need rain or a water body nearby.
Why isn't my Riptide working even with a water bucket in my offhand?
Make sure the water bucket is actually in your offhand slot, not just anywhere in your inventory, and that you're holding the Riptide trident in your main hand. You also need to be standing on solid ground or in a valid launch position, since Riptide still won't fire mid-air.
How do I change how far Riptide launches me?
Open the mod's config file and adjust tridentUsePowerModifier. Higher values launch you farther and faster; the default is 3.0 while vanilla is 1.0, so lowering it toward 1.0 makes launches feel more like vanilla.
How do I make Riptide charge faster or slower?
Edit tridentUseDuration in the config. Lower values mean a shorter charge time and faster launches; the default is 5 ticks versus vanilla's 10, so raising it makes charging take longer.
Does Riptide still work normally in the rain with this mod?
Yes. Rain and water still count as valid Riptide sources as in vanilla, so the water bucket offhand trick is just an extra option for dry conditions. You don't lose any vanilla behavior by installing the mod.
Can I use Riptide to travel in the Nether?
Yes, and it's a popular use since the Nether has no rain. Carry a water bucket in your offhand and use Riptide to launch across gaps, lava lakes, and long stretches quickly, though you still need a safe landing spot.
Why did my Riptide launch send me into a wall or off a cliff?
The default power modifier is much stronger than vanilla, so launches go farther than you may expect. Lower tridentUsePowerModifier in the config if you keep overshooting, or aim your camera more carefully before launching.
Is this mod compatible with other trident or combat mods?
It generally works alongside mods that don't rewrite the same trident Riptide logic, but mods that heavily change trident behavior or enchantment handling may conflict. If Riptide stops working, test with only this mod enabled to isolate the issue.
Does the mod hurt performance or cause lag?
No, it's a lightweight mod that only tweaks trident mechanics and reads a small config, so it shouldn't noticeably affect performance. Any lag you see is more likely from other mods or your world.
Do I need to enable anything to start using the mod's features?
No setup is required beyond having the mod installed and a trident with Riptide. The water bucket offhand trick and the config options work out of the box with the default values.
