How to Ignite Flammable Blocks Using a Torch

Lighting Blocks on Fire

Beyond combat, the Torch Hit Mod lets you use a torch's flame to ignite flammable blocks in the world — the same way a flint and steel would, but without consuming a durability item.

1. Hold a lit torch in your main hand.

2. Aim at a flammable block — wood planks, wool, leaves, fences, and similar materials.

3. Strike or right-click the block (behavior depends on your config) to apply the flame.

4. The block catches fire and spreads naturally if surrounded by more flammable material.

Practical Uses

This is handy for controlled burns: clearing a forest patch, lighting a campfire setup, or triggering a trap. Because the torch doesn't break by default when used this way, you can keep igniting blocks repeatedly with the same torch.

Be careful — fire spreads. If you're near your base, clear a buffer of non-flammable blocks first. You can also use this to light mobs that walk into the fire, combining block ignition with combat. Check your config if torches seem to break on use; that behavior is toggleable.
