How to Deal Extra Fire Damage by Striking with a Torch
Direct Torch Strikes
Striking a mob directly with a torch deals fire damage over time — roughly comparable to a low-level Fire Aspect enchantment. This is the mod's core combat feature and works even without any other weapon equipped.
1. Hold a torch in your main hand.
2. Walk up to a mob and left-click to attack.
3. The mob ignites for several seconds, taking repeated fire ticks.
4. Follow up with a sword swing while it burns for maximum damage.
Combining with a Weapon
The real value comes from pairing: strike once with the torch to apply the burn, then swap to your sword (or keep a torch in the offhand) and keep hitting. The fire damage ticks independently of your melee hits, so you're effectively stacking two damage sources.
Fire-vulnerable mobs — most undead, animals, and many hostile mobs — take the full benefit. Fire-immune mobs ignore it entirely, so don't waste torch durability on them. If you have Soul Fire'd installed, a soul torch applies soul fire instead, which has its own interactions. Otherwise soul torches simply extend burn duration, which is especially punishing for Piglins.
