How to Configure Torch Hit Mod Fire Duration and Tool Rules
Finding the Config
The Torch Hit Mod exposes several options so you can tune how torches behave. Open your config folder (typically the config directory in your Minecraft instance) and look for the Torch Hit Mod config file. You can edit it directly or through an in-game config menu if your mod loader provides one.
Key Options to Adjust
- Main-hand fire duration — how long a mob burns when you strike with a torch directly.
- Offhand fire duration — how long a mob burns when you attack with a tool while holding a torch in the offhand.
- Allowed tools — choose which main-hand items can trigger the offhand torch hit. Restrict this to swords and axes, or open it up to everything.
- Torch/candle breaking — decide whether torches or candles are consumed or destroyed when used to ignite. Turning this off keeps your torches intact indefinitely.
Tips
If you want a more survival-balanced feel, shorten the burn durations and enable torch breaking. For a more casual or creative experience, extend durations and disable breaking. Changes usually require a game restart or world reload to take effect. If a modded torch isn't behaving like a torch, check whether the mod lets you register custom items as torch-like — that's also in the config.
