How to Move a Tooltip Left and Right (Horizontal Scrolling)
Hold Shift to Scroll Sideways
By default the scroll keys move tooltips vertically. To move a tooltip left or right, hold Shift while pressing Page Up or Page Down. Shift + Page Up shifts the tooltip one direction horizontally, and Shift + Page Down shifts it the other way.
This is useful when a tooltip is so wide it runs off the right edge of the screen, or when it overlaps another UI element you want to see.
Typical Use Cases
- A tooltip with very long single-line entries (like a long mod name or a wide stat table) that extends past the screen edge.
- Positioning a tooltip away from your hotbar or health bar so you can read it without obstruction.
- Comparing two items side by side by pushing one tooltip out of the way.
Tips
- Combine vertical and horizontal scrolling: first Page Down to reach the section you want, then Shift + Page Up/Down to slide it into view.
- If horizontal movement feels reversed, remember the two Shift combinations move in opposite directions — try the other key.
- Release Shift before pressing the keys again if you want to go back to vertical scrolling.
