How to Use the /function tooltrims:custom_items Command in Creative

What the Command Does

The data pack includes a convenience command for Creative players: /function tooltrims:custom_items. Running it gives you the custom items the data pack adds, so you do not have to hunt them down or craft them manually. This is the fastest way to start testing trims.

Running the Command

1. Make sure cheats are enabled in your world (required for any command).

2. Switch to Creative mode.

3. Open chat and type /function tooltrims:custom_items.

4. Press Enter. The custom items — including the Tool Trim Smithing Templates — will be added to your inventory or dropped nearby.

After You Have the Items

Once you have the templates, place a Toolsmithing Table and open it. Put a tool or weapon in the base slot, a template in the template slot, and a trim material (Gold, Emerald, Redstone, Diamond, or Amethyst Shards) in the addition slot. Apply the trim to see the result. Use this command whenever you want to test a new template and material combination without grinding for materials, then switch back to Survival once you have decided on a look.

Note on Survival

This command is intended for Creative testing. In Survival you will need to obtain the templates and materials through normal gameplay instead.
