How to Use Separate Game Folders Per Version to Keep Mods and Worlds Apart

Why Separate Folders Matter

If you play several modded setups, mixing their mods, configs, and saves causes crashes and corrupted worlds. TL Legacy Launcher supports optional per-version game profile folders, so each version gets its own isolated data directory.

Enabling a Per-Version Folder

Select the version you want to isolate, then open its settings or profile options. Look for the toggle or field related to a custom or per-version game directory. Enable it. The launcher will create a dedicated subfolder for that version instead of using the shared default location.

What Goes Where

Inside that folder you will find the usual structure: mods, config, saves, resourcepacks, shaderpacks, and so on. Anything you place here only affects this version. Your other versions keep their own copies untouched.

Practical Workflow

Create one version entry per modpack or per loader. Give each a clear name so you can tell them apart in the list. Install mods only into the matching folder. When you want to back up a setup, just copy its whole folder. When you want to start over, delete the folder contents without affecting anything else. This keeps testing, playing, and experimenting cleanly separated.
