Choosing the Best GUI Scale for Your Screen Size

Understanding the Trade-off

GUI scale controls how large interface elements are drawn. A low scale shrinks menus, hotbar, and text so more fits on screen — useful on large monitors or when you want maximum visible inventory space. A high scale enlarges everything for readability, which helps on small laptop screens or high-resolution displays where default text feels tiny.

Testing Values In-Game

Open your inventory and a chest while adjusting the slider so you can see how many slots fit and whether text is comfortable. Drag toward smaller values to fit more rows and columns; drag toward larger values if labels and numbers are hard to read. Because TipTheScales gives you a continuous slider, you can find a middle ground that vanilla's fixed steps would skip.

Matching Your Resolution

Higher screen resolutions generally need a larger scale to keep the interface readable, while lower resolutions need a smaller one to avoid everything looking oversized. If your GUI suddenly looks huge or tiny after changing your monitor or window size, revisit the slider and readjust. Keep in mind the setting is stored per client, so it will not carry over to other computers or affect other players.
