Tips Enhancement Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Where do I find the config file to edit my tips?
The Tips Enhancement Mod config file is located in your game's config folder (usually .minecraft/config). Look for a file named something like "tips-enhancement.toml" or "tips-enhancement.json" depending on your mod version, then open it with any text editor.
How do I add a tip to the loading screen?
Open your mod's config file and find the section for loading screen tips, then add your custom text between the quotation marks. Save the file and restart your game—your tip will appear the next time you load a world.
What color codes work for tips?
Tips Enhancement Mod uses standard Minecraft color codes like &c for red, &a for green, &b for cyan, and &l for bold formatting. You can combine codes (for example &c&l makes bold red text) by placing them before the text you want to style.
Can I have different tips on pause menu vs loading screen?
Yes—the config file has separate sections for each screen type (loading screen, pause menu, inventory screen). You can set completely different tips for each location by editing the appropriate section.
Do tips show for other players on a multiplayer server?
Tips are client-side only, so each player sees the tips from their own config file. If you want all players to see the same tips on a server or modpack, you need to distribute the same config file to everyone.
My tips aren't showing up what did I do wrong
Check that you saved the config file after editing, restarted your game completely, and that your text isn't inside a comment line (lines starting with #). Also verify the screen section you edited is actually enabled in the config.
Can I use special characters or line breaks in my tips?
Most special characters work fine, but you may need to escape certain symbols with a backslash depending on your config file format. For line breaks, check your mod's documentation for the correct escape sequence (often \n).
Does this mod affect performance or fps?
Tips Enhancement Mod has minimal performance impact since it only displays text on menus—it won't affect your in-game FPS or cause lag during normal gameplay.
Can I randomize which tip shows each time?
Some versions of Tips Enhancement Mod support showing random tips from a list. Check your config file for a randomize or rotation option, or consult the mod's guide on displaying different tips.
Is this mod compatible with other mods?
Tips Enhancement Mod is designed to be modpack-friendly and doesn't conflict with most other mods since it only affects menu screens. If you experience issues, try disabling other mods that heavily modify menus to isolate the problem.
