How to Store Time in a Bottle (Fill It Up)

What the Bottle Actually Does

Time in a Bottle is a single-item mod, so everything revolves around one object: the bottle. Its purpose is to hold stored time that you can later release to speed up the world around you. Before you can do anything useful, you need to charge it.

Filling the Bottle

1. Craft or otherwise obtain a Time in a Bottle.

2. Hold the bottle and let in-game time pass while it is in your inventory or hand — the bottle accumulates time as the world ticks.

3. Watch the item's tooltip or durability-style indicator to see how much time it has stored. The bar fills as time is captured.

4. Once it is full, stop waiting — a full bottle will not store more until you spend what it holds.

Practical Tips

  • Keep the bottle on you during normal play (mining, exploring, farming) so it charges passively instead of you standing around.
  • A partially filled bottle still works; you do not need a full charge to get a benefit.
  • If you want to top it off faster, just play normally — there is no separate fuel or ingredient to feed it.

The key idea: the bottle is a battery for time. Fill it by existing in the world, then carry it to whatever you want to accelerate.
