Control Where Trees Fall
Position Yourself Correctly
Tree direction is determined by your position relative to the trunk. The tree will always fall away from you, so plan your stance before you start chopping.
1. Identify the open space where you want the tree to land
2. Stand on the opposite side of the trunk, with your back toward that open space
3. Face the trunk and hold your axe ready
4. Begin mining the trunk block
Execute the Fall
Once you break the trunk, the entire tree—logs, branches, and canopy—will tilt and drop as one connected structure in the direction away from your position. The tree lands on the ground rather than vanishing, so choose your location carefully to avoid blocking pathways or damaging builds.
If you need to fell a tree in a confined space, use /treefelling preview to see the predicted landing zone before committing to the chop. This helps you avoid mistakes in tight areas or near structures you want to protect.
