How to Make Eating Animations Visible in Third-Person and Multiplayer

Eating animations are a first-person hand animation, so the biggest confusion players hit is expecting to see the animation on other players or on their own character in third-person view. Understanding what the pack can and cannot change saves a lot of troubleshooting.

What You See in Third-Person

Switch to third-person with F5 and eat something. Your character's arm and head still move according to vanilla behavior, because the pack changes the held-item animation in first-person, not the player model's body animation. The custom animation is designed for the view where your hand and the food are closest to the camera.

What Other Players See

On a multiplayer server, other players see your character using the normal eating motion. The pack is client-side, meaning it changes what you see on your own screen. It does not broadcast a new animation to everyone else, and it does not need to be installed by the server.

Getting the Best View

Stay in first-person while eating to appreciate the animation. If you want to record or screenshot it, first-person with a clear background and no particles blocking your hand gives the cleanest result. Remember that any other player only needs the pack installed on their own client to see it for themselves.
