Enjoy atmospheric lighting in caves and dark areas

Understanding fog removal in dark environments

Nofog removes visual fog, but it doesn't change how light works. Underground caves, the Nether, and dark areas will still be dark—you just won't see fog obscuring distant blocks.

Lighting strategies for dark exploration

1. Carry torches, lanterns, or glowstone to illuminate your path

2. Wear armor with enchantments like Aqua Affinity or use potions for specific effects

3. Use a shield or sword with enchantments to see better in low light

4. Place light sources strategically to mark your route back

Appreciating the view

Without fog, you can now see deep into ravines and caves. Lava flows, waterfalls, and cave formations become visible from much farther away, creating a more dramatic sense of scale. This makes underground exploration more immersive—you can spot danger (like lava) or resources (like ore deposits) before getting close.

The removed fog also means you'll see cave ceilings and walls more clearly, making it easier to navigate complex underground systems and appreciate the natural terrain generation.
