What is The World Beneath mod?
It is a highly configurable Deep Dark alternative that replaces the dimension with a more evil version. The author also describes it as a vanilla-friendly mod that expands the caves of Minecraft with five new cave biomes.
How do you get to The Beneath?
You enter the dimension using a special Teleporter block. It has no default crafting recipe, so it must be obtained in other ways.
What Minecraft versions does The World Beneath support?
It supports Minecraft 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, on the Forge and NeoForge loaders.
What cave biomes does The World Beneath add?
It adds five cave biomes: Glowing Caverns, Rusted Depths, Overgrowth Grotto, Frostbound Chasm, and Acid Catacombs. Each biome has its own unique mineral.
What is ferrosite used for?
Ferrosite is a mineral found in the Rusted Depths that can be used for decoration, hand drills, and special tools. It is similar to copper and iron.
Are mobs in The Beneath stronger?
Yes. All mobs that spawn in the dimension have double health and deal double damage.
What are the difficulty modes in The Beneath?
There are three modes: Grue, where Grue monsters spawn in dark areas if you stay too long; Darkness, where you take damage just by being in the dark; and None, which turns off darkness damage.
Can you configure ore generation in The World Beneath?
Yes. The mod includes a built-in ore generator that you can customize using JSON files, and it can be disabled entirely if you prefer another mod for ore generation.
What commands does The World Beneath add?
The /beneath reloadAll command reloads both ore and decoration config files, while /beneath reloadOres and /beneath reloadDeco reload only the ore or decoration config respectively. This lets you test config changes without restarting Minecraft.
Is The World Beneath still being updated?
Yes, the mod is undergoing a major rework. Many biomes, mechanics, textures, structures, and features are being redesigned or replaced, so the current public version does not represent the final direction of the mod.
