Set Up Your First Crucible for Metal Smelting

Crafting and Placing Your Crucible

Start by crafting a clay crucible—this is your foundation for efficient metal smelting. Once crafted, place it on a heat source like a firepit or forge. The crucible needs sustained heat to function, so ensure your heat source is actively burning.

Loading Ore and Monitoring Temperature

Right-click the crucible to open its interface. You'll see ore slots at the top and a temperature gauge on the side. Add your broken ore chunks (smaller pieces melt faster than large ones) into the available slots. As the temperature rises, you'll watch the ore gradually liquefy.

The interface displays the exact temperature in real-time, so you know when you're reaching the melting point for your target metal. Don't leave it unattended during critical temperature ranges—remove the crucible from heat once melting is complete to prevent overflow or unwanted mixing.

Pouring Your Results

Once fully melted, carefully pour the liquid metal into molds or ingot forms. If you're mixing metals for alloys, the mod will automatically combine them if left undisturbed, showing you the final composition before you pour.
