TFC Mantle Mountains Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I find mountains after installing this mod?
Use the command /locate biome tfc:mountains to instantly travel to the nearest mountain biome in your world. Mountains will spawn naturally as you explore, but this command is the fastest way to see the mod's effects.
What's the difference between vertical and horizontal scale?
Vertical scale controls how tall your mountain peaks reach into the sky, while horizontal scale controls how wide the mountain slopes spread across the landscape. Increasing vertical scale makes peaks taller; increasing horizontal scale makes mountains broader and gentler.
Why are my mountain peaks getting cut off at the top?
Your vertical scale setting is too high and the terrain is clipping into the world height limit. Lower your vertical scale value below 6.0, or reduce it further if peaks are still being cut off at 1024 blocks.
Can I have snow on mountains in warm climates?
Yes—enable the snow-capped peaks setting in the config file to force snow generation on all mountain summits regardless of the local climate. This setting is disabled by default.
Do these bigger mountains spawn more often in my world?
No, the mod scales existing mountain biomes without increasing how often they appear. Mountain rarity stays the same; they just look much more dramatic.
What config values should I start with?
Start with a vertical scale around 2.0–4.0 and a horizontal scale around 1.5–2.0, then explore a mountain and adjust based on what you see. Values above 4.0 for vertical scale can look unusual, so test before going higher.
Will this mod work with other terrain mods?
This mod is designed specifically for TerraFirmaCraft mountain generation, so compatibility with other terrain-altering mods depends on how they modify world generation. Test in a new world to check for conflicts.
How do I apply config changes without restarting my world?
You must restart your world or server for config changes to take effect. Changes to the config file only apply to newly generated terrain chunks, not existing ones.
Are there performance issues with massive mountains?
Very high vertical and horizontal scale values can increase chunk generation time and memory use. Keep vertical scale below 6.0 and test your chosen settings in a new world to ensure acceptable performance on your system.
Can I have different scale settings for different mountain biomes?
The config file applies one set of scale values to all TerraFirmaCraft mountain biomes. You cannot customize individual biomes separately through this mod.
