Register a Custom Tool Part or Weapon Piece

Understanding Tool Parts in Tetra

Tool parts are individual components that make up Tetra gear—heads, handles, guards, and blades. You can create custom parts that use your materials and have unique stats or effects.

Creating the Part

Inside your hp_TetraDataEvents.queue() call, define a new part by specifying:

  • Part type: The slot it occupies (e.g., head, handle, blade)
  • Compatible materials: Which materials can be used to craft this part
  • Stats contribution: How this part affects the final tool's performance
  • Improvements it accepts: Which upgrades can be attached to this part
  • Visuals: Texture or model data

Making It Usable

Your part won't appear in workbenches until you create a schematic that teaches the workbench how to craft it. Parts are building blocks; schematics are the recipes that combine them.

Verification

After running /reload, open a workbench. If your part is correctly registered, it should appear as an option when you're selecting components for a tool, provided a schematic exists that uses it.
