Choose the Right Zoom Level for Your World
Understanding Zoom Levels
Terrarium Expanded offers five zoom levels that control how much real-world terrain fits into your Minecraft world. Each level trades world size against chunk loading speed and terrain detail.
Zoom 8 creates the smallest world (~611 meters per block) with the fastest loading—ideal if your computer struggles or you want quick exploration of broad regions.
Zoom 10 is the recommended balanced choice. It offers moderate world size with reasonable detail and manageable performance for standard exploration and building.
Zoom 12 provides the highest real-world accuracy and finest terrain details (~38 meters per block), but generates the largest world and demands more processing power during chunk loading.
Choosing Your Level
Consider your goals: casual exploration benefits from Zoom 9–10, while detailed map-based building projects need Zoom 11–12. If you're building a specific real-world location, higher zoom lets you capture finer geographic features like narrow valleys or precise coastlines.
Test your computer's performance with your chosen level before committing to a large build. You can always start at Zoom 10 and adjust if performance or detail needs change.
