Using Stone Variants for Building
Building with Andesite, Diorite, and Granite
These three stone variants are excellent decorative blocks for construction. Each has a distinct appearance: andesite is dark with a speckled texture, diorite is light and white-speckled, and granite is reddish-brown with visible crystals.
Preparation
Collect your desired stone variant from underground blobs. You can use the raw blocks directly, or process them further:
- Smooth variants: Smelt raw blocks in a furnace to create smooth andesite, smooth diorite, or smooth granite
- Polished variants: Craft four blocks in a 2×2 pattern to create polished versions with a refined appearance
- Stairs and slabs: Use these variants to craft decorative stairs and slabs for detailed builds
Design Tips
Mix these stone types for visual contrast—andesite and diorite pair well for checkerboard patterns, while granite adds warmth to builds. Combine with their smooth and polished variants for layered, sophisticated designs. These blocks work particularly well for modern architecture, castle foundations, and underground structures.
