Tensura Better Subordinates Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I access the Skills menu for my followers?
Open your subordinate menu in-game, then click on the new Skills tab to see all your followers' current abilities and progression. From there you can view mastery levels and turn individual skills on or off for each follower.
What's the fastest way to level up my follower's combat skills?
Combat skills like Strength and Steel Strength require both EP gains and defeating enemies in battle. The more difficult enemies you fight with your follower, the faster they'll accumulate EP and progress toward these skills.
How do I unlock monster hunting skills like Poison or Paralysis?
Each monster hunting skill requires defeating specific enemy types a certain number of times—for example, Poison requires defeating 50 Spiders and consuming 25 Spider Eyes. Check the progress bar in the Skills menu to see how close your follower is to unlocking each one.
What are Charybdis Cores used for?
Charybdis Cores are consumed to unlock powerful Special Item Skills like Magic Jamming, Ultra Regeneration, and Gravity Manipulation. Each core unlocks one of these high-tier abilities for your follower.
Can I turn off skills my follower has already learned?
Yes, you can toggle any learned skill on or off individually through the Skills menu tab. This lets you customize which abilities your follower uses in combat without losing the skill permanently.
How do environment skills like Water Current Control work?
Environment skills require both reaching a certain EP threshold and spending time in specific conditions—for example, Water Current Control needs 7,000 EP and time spent swimming in water. Your follower will progress toward these skills passively while you meet both requirements.
Do I need to do anything special to start the training system?
No special setup is needed—once you have the mod installed, your followers will automatically begin earning EP and progressing toward skills through normal gameplay. Just open the Skills menu tab to monitor their progress.
What happens if I turn off a skill—do I lose it permanently?
No, turning off a skill only disables it temporarily. Your follower keeps the skill and can learn it again by toggling it back on in the Skills menu.
Can multiple followers learn the same skills?
Yes, each follower has their own independent skill progression and mastery levels. You can teach the same skills to different followers, and they'll track progress separately.
Why isn't my follower progressing toward a skill I unlocked?
Make sure the skill is toggled on in the Skills menu—if it's disabled, your follower won't work toward mastering it. Also verify you're meeting all the requirements listed in the progress bar, such as EP thresholds or specific enemy defeats.
