Set Up Your First Hammer and Start Mining

Craft Your First Hammer

Before you can use area mining, you need to build a hammer. Open your crafting table and use the recipe display commands to see what materials you need.

Type /trigger show_recipes_in_chat to view all hammer tiers in chat, or /trigger show_recipes_in_browser for a clickable web view. Hammers come in multiple material tiers—each tier mines faster and covers a larger area. Start with iron or gold if you have the materials available.

Equip and Test Your Hammer

Once crafted, place your hammer in your main hand (not off-hand). Find a stone or ore deposit and swing normally. You'll immediately notice blocks breaking in a grid pattern around your target block instead of just one block.

If you want to mine a single block precisely, crouch (hold Shift) while swinging. This works if sneak bypass is enabled—check the toggle with /function datapack:juix_datapacks/toggle_sneak_bypass if single-block mining isn't working as expected.

All blocks drop normally, so your inventory will fill quickly when clearing large areas. Bring plenty of storage space on long mining trips.
