Talentium Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start leveling talents?
Talents level automatically as you perform their associated actions—swing a sword to level Swords, fish to level Fishing, sneak to level Sneak, etc. You'll see your progress tracked in the scoreboard, and each talent has its own level curve that you can configure.
What's the max level for talents?
The level cap is configurable, so it depends on your data pack settings. Check your config file to see what the current cap is, or ask your server admin if you're playing multiplayer.
How do I get spells in Magic?
Find Spell Tomes in Stronghold libraries, then use them to imbue spells into a Spellbook at the appropriate crafting interface. Once a spell is imbued, you can cast it from your Spellbook as you level the Magic talent.
Do I need to do anything special to use Smithing bonuses?
Craft a Smithing Enhancer from the same material as the item you want to upgrade, then use it at the Smithing Table alongside your tool, weapon, or armor. The enhancer grants random bonuses based on your Smithing level.
Why isn't my talent leveling up?
Make sure you're performing the correct action for that talent—for example, Axes only level when you hit enemies with axes, not when you break blocks. Also check that the talent isn't disabled in your data pack config.
Can I manually set a talent level?
Yes, use the command `/scoreboard players set [player_name] ttm.[talent]_level [value]` to set any talent to a specific level. Replace `[talent]` with the talent name like `swords`, `fishing`, or `magic`.
How do I register custom items to work with talents?
Add the item's ID to the appropriate tag file in `data/ttm/tags/items/`—for example, add a custom sword to `swords.json` so it benefits from the Swords talent.
Does Sneak make me completely invisible?
After sneaking for a short time, you become invisible to mobs and players, giving you a stealth advantage. Your first attack on an unaware opponent deals bonus damage, but attacking breaks the invisibility.
What happens when I level Taming with wolves and horses?
Tamed wolves become stronger, faster, and deal more damage, while horses gain speed and agility. At higher Taming levels, there's a chance for your tamed animals to produce twin offspring instead of single babies.
Can I use this mod with other mods or data packs?
Talentium is designed as a data pack, so compatibility depends on whether other mods or data packs conflict with its mechanics. Test them together in a world, and check for errors in the log if something doesn't work.
