Adjust Lighting and Shadow Quality

Accessing Shader Settings

1. Open your Video Settings menu.

2. Select Shader Options or Shader Settings (exact name depends on your launcher).

3. Find the TAA shader configuration panel.

Modifying Lighting Parameters

The shader includes adjustable controls for shadows and lighting that affect both nearby and distant terrain:

  • Look for shadow intensity or shadow distance sliders—these control how dark shadows appear and how far they render.
  • Brightness or exposure controls adjust overall lighting levels across the world.
  • Color saturation or tone mapping options let you fine-tune how colors appear, especially on distant terrain.

Testing Changes

After adjusting any setting, return to your world and observe how the changes affect both nearby blocks and far-away terrain rendered by Distant Horizons. Distant terrain should remain clearly visible without appearing washed out or overly dark. If distant chunks look disconnected from nearby terrain in terms of lighting, adjust the shadow or brightness settings until they blend smoothly.
