Ta Te’s Extra Trims Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I apply a trim pattern to armor that doesn't have one yet?
Place your armor piece in the Smithing Table along with a pattern item (like Diamond Block, Lead, TNT, Dragon Head, or Water Bucket) and the smithing table will apply that pattern to your armor.
What items can I use to create trim colors?
You can use food items like Cake and Pumpkin Pie, mob drops like Blaze Rod and Slime Ball, or special items like Dragon's Breath and Echo Shard—convert any of these into usable color materials using the Stonecutter.
How do I convert an item into a trim color?
Place the material item (like Dragon's Breath or Bone) into the Stonecutter, and it will turn into a usable color material that you can apply to your armor.
Can I change the color of armor that already has a trim?
Yes, drop your trimmed armor onto a Smithing Table along with a new color material, and the old color will be swapped out for the new one.
How do I remove a trim pattern completely?
Drop your decorated armor piece onto a Grindstone block, and all trim decorations will be removed without destroying the armor.
Do I need to find rare smithing templates to use this pack?
No, this pack lets you use common everyday items like Diamond Blocks, Lead, and food instead of hunting for rare smithing templates.
What pattern does each item create?
Diamond Block creates the Fool pattern, Lead creates the Wanderer pattern, TNT creates the Creep pattern, Dragon Head creates the Dragon pattern, and Water Bucket creates the Oasis pattern.
Can I apply multiple trim colors to the same armor piece?
The mod applies one trim color per armor piece; to change it, you drop the armor with a new color material onto the Smithing Table to swap the existing color.
Do I need to craft anything before using this pack?
No setup crafting is required—you just need the pattern items and color materials, which you either find or convert using the Stonecutter.
Will this pack work with my other mods and resource packs?
This is a data pack that modifies vanilla Minecraft mechanics, so it should work with most mods and resource packs, but compatibility depends on whether other mods alter the Smithing Table or Grindstone functionality.
