How to Use Quick Suggestions by Typing a Colon Keyword

The basic trigger

Quick Suggestions let you insert symbols without opening the panel. In any text field that supports Symbol Chat, type a colon : followed by a short keyword, for example :cro. A small suggestion list pops up above the text field showing matching symbols such as a crown, a star, or a heart. The list updates as you keep typing, narrowing down to the best matches.

Choosing a suggestion

1. Type : and the first few letters of what you want.

2. Watch the suggestion list appear; use the arrow keys to move through it if your keyboard layout supports it, or click an entry directly.

3. Press the accept key (usually Tab or Enter, depending on your setup) or click the symbol to insert it.

4. The keyword you typed is replaced by the chosen symbol, so your message stays clean.

Getting better results

• Keywords are short and lowercase; try the obvious word for the symbol, like the object's name.
• If nothing matches, shorten your keyword or try a synonym.
• You can mix Quick Suggestions with the panel: type a keyword for common symbols and open the panel for the rest.
• If suggestions do not appear, make sure the cursor is inside a supported text field and that you typed the colon as the first character of the keyword, not in the middle of a word.
