Sword Armor Trims Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need a special smithing table or is a regular one fine?
A regular vanilla Smithing Table works perfectly—no crafting or special setup needed. Just place it down and start trimming your swords.
Can I trim wooden and stone swords or only high tier ones?
You can trim every sword tier from wood all the way up to netherite. Each tier gets its own set of 199 distinct visual patterns.
What happens to my sword's damage and enchantments when I trim it?
Your sword keeps all its original damage, durability, and enchantments—trimming is purely cosmetic and doesn't change how the sword performs in combat.
Do I need the actual armor trim templates or can I use something else?
You need the actual armor trim templates (like Spire, Wavy, Bolt, etc.) placed in the left slot of the Smithing Table, just like you would for armor.
Can I use any mineral or ingot for the material slot?
Yes, the pack works with all 11 smithing materials including iron, gold, diamond, copper, redstone, amethyst, lapis, emerald, and others—each creates a different visual result.
If I trim a sword and then trim it again with a different template, does the old trim disappear?
Yes, applying a new trim replaces the previous one. If you want to keep multiple versions, you'll need to trim separate copies of the sword.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues on a multiplayer server?
No, the pack is designed to run smoothly on servers without impacting performance or breaking vanilla gameplay for other players.
Can other players see my trimmed swords in multiplayer, or is it just client-side?
Other players can see your trimmed swords since the pack works on servers—everyone sees the same custom designs.
What if I want to make a matching set of trimmed swords across different tiers?
Use the same trim template and mineral combination on each sword tier (wood, stone, iron, diamond, netherite, etc.) to create a coordinated set with consistent visual styling.
Is there a limit to how many trimmed swords I can have or store?
No hard limit—you can trim as many swords as you want and store them however you'd normally store items in Minecraft.
