Switchy Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I create my first preset?
Use the `/switchy create ` command to create a new preset. Your current player data (nickname, inventory, etc.) will be saved to this preset, and you can switch between presets anytime using `/switchy switch `.
What data does a preset actually save?
Presets store whatever modules you have enabled—this typically includes nicknames, pronouns, skins, inventory contents, and power states from mods like Origins. When you switch presets, Switchy saves your current data and loads the saved data from the new preset.
Can I have different inventories for each preset?
Yes, if you have Switchy Inventories installed as an add-on. This allows each preset to maintain its own separate inventory, so switching presets will also swap your items.
Do I need oωo to use Switchy?
No—Switchy works standalone with commands. The oωo mod is optional and provides a client-side GUI companion for easier preset management, but all core functionality is accessible through commands.
Can I use Switchy with RPGStats or Hexcasting?
Yes, Switchy is designed to work with other mods. You can create presets that preserve stats, spell states, or other mod data depending on what modules are configured, though specific compatibility depends on your setup.
How do I set different nicknames and pronouns per preset?
Create your presets first, then use commands like `/switchy nickname ` and `/switchy pronouns ` to customize each preset individually. When you switch presets, your nickname and pronouns will update automatically.
What happens if I delete a preset by accident?
Deleted presets cannot be recovered, so make sure you're certain before removing one. Always double-check the preset name when using delete commands.
Can multiple players use presets on the same server?
Yes—presets are stored per-player in player data, so each player can have their own independent set of presets without affecting others.
Does Switchy work in single-player and multiplayer?
Switchy works in both single-player worlds and multiplayer servers. On servers, the server must have the mod installed for presets to function properly.
Can I import presets from someone else or use preset templates?
If you have the SwitchyKit add-on installed, you can import preset configurations. Otherwise, presets are created fresh per-player through commands.
