SVDialog Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know if the mod is working?
Start a new game or talk to any NPC—you should see a character portrait appear on the left side of the dialogue box with their name displayed underneath. If you see the standard Minecraft dialogue instead, check that the mod is enabled in your mods folder.
Can I move the dialogue box to a different part of my screen?
Yes, you can adjust the dialog box x-offset in the mod's configuration settings to move it left or right. Open your config files and look for the positioning option to customize where the box appears.
Why aren't NPC portraits showing up?
Make sure the NPC you're talking to has a portrait defined in the mod's files—not all NPCs may have custom portraits available. Check that your resource pack or mod folder contains the portrait images and that they're named correctly.
Does this mod work with other dialogue mods?
SVDialog Mod may conflict with other mods that change NPC dialogue or UI elements, so test compatibility by running them together and checking if dialogue displays correctly. If you see overlapping boxes or missing text, try disabling one of the conflicting mods.
How do I use the trading menu?
When you open a trade with an NPC who supports it, the SVDialog trading menu will appear showing available items and prices. Select what you want to buy or sell just like you would in a normal trading interface.
Can I customize the dialogue box appearance?
You can adjust the x-offset position through the configuration file, but the overall Stardew Valley-style design is fixed. If you want to change colors or fonts, you may need to create a custom resource pack that overrides the mod's textures.
What should I do if dialogue text is cut off or overlapping?
Try adjusting the dialog box x-offset in the config to give the text more room, or check if your screen resolution is causing the issue. You can also try resizing your UI scale in Minecraft settings.
Does the mod affect performance?
SVDialog Mod is lightweight since it mainly changes the UI layer, so it shouldn't cause noticeable performance drops on most systems. If you experience lag, it's more likely caused by other mods or your overall modpack size.
Will this mod work with modpacks?
Yes, the mod was originally created for a specific modpack but works in any Minecraft installation—just add it to your mods folder like any other mod. Make sure it's compatible with your other mods to avoid dialogue display issues.
How do I know which NPCs support the Stardew Valley dialogue style?
Any NPC you talk to will display in the new style if the mod is active, but only NPCs with custom portraits defined will show a character image. Standard Minecraft NPCs without portraits will still use the dialogue box but without a picture.
