How to Use Push-to-Talk and Manage Players in SVC
Enabling Push-to-Talk
By default, SVC may use voice activation, where your mic transmits whenever it detects sound. If you prefer controlling exactly when you speak, open the voice chat settings menu and enable push-to-talk. Then assign a push-to-talk keybind — a mouse button or a key you can hold comfortably while playing. Once set, your voice only transmits while that key is held. This is ideal in noisy environments or when you don't want background sounds broadcast to nearby players. Remember that with proximity chat, anyone within range hears you, so push-to-talk also prevents accidental transmissions.
Muting and Managing Other Players
SVC includes a player list within its settings or a dedicated menu, showing everyone currently in voice range or on the server. From here you can mute individual players whose audio you don't want to hear, or adjust their volume separately. This is useful on busy servers where one player's mic is too loud or has constant background noise. Muting a player through the mod only affects your client — they can still hear you unless you also stop transmitting.
Checking Who Is Talking
When someone speaks, their name typically appears near the voice chat icon, and their character may show a speaking indicator in the world. Use this to tell who's talking in a crowd. If you want to see who's in range, the player list in the voice menu shows nearby voice-active players, helping you know who can hear you before you speak.
