SVC For Lunar Client Modpack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start voice chat in SVC on Lunar Client?
Join a world or server and press the voice chat keybind (default is V) to open the voice chat GUI, then click the microphone icon to activate your mic. Once enabled, you'll see a speaker icon next to players who are talking.
Why can't other players hear me in SVC?
Check that your microphone is selected in the voice chat settings and that you aren't muted in the GUI. Also make sure the server you're on has the Simple Voice Chat plugin or mod installed, since voice only works when both sides support it.
Does SVC work on every server or only some?
Voice chat only works on servers that have Simple Voice Chat installed server-side. On servers without it, you can still open the GUI but no one will hear you and you won't hear anyone.
How does proximity voice chat work in SVC?
Your voice fades with distance, so players close to you hear you clearly while those far away hear you faintly or not at all. The server admin sets the maximum range, and you can adjust your own volume and mic sensitivity in the voice chat settings.
Can I use push to talk with SVC on Lunar Client?
Yes, open the voice chat settings and switch the activation mode from voice activation to push-to-talk, then bind a key. Hold that key whenever you want to speak.
How do I mute a specific player in SVC?
Open the voice chat GUI while in-game, find the player in the list, and click the mute button next to their name. You can also adjust their individual volume with the slider beside them.
SVC voice chat not working after joining a server
Make sure the server actually has Simple Voice Chat installed, then check that your mic isn't muted in the GUI and that your input device is correct. If it still fails, reconnect to the server so the voice connection re-establishes.
Does SVC hurt my FPS on Lunar Client?
SVC is lightweight and only adds voice features, so performance impact is minimal compared to full modpacks. If you notice lag, lower your audio quality or disable voice activation in the settings.
Can I hear players in other dimensions or far away in SVC?
Proximity chat is based on in-game distance, so players in other dimensions or far away generally won't be audible. Some servers configure group chats or whisper features that bypass distance, but that depends on the server setup.
How do I change my microphone or output device in SVC?
Open the voice chat settings from the GUI and look for the audio device dropdowns. Select your preferred input and output devices there, then test your mic with the built-in meter before speaking.
