How to Unlock and Spend Your First Skill Points

Opening the Skill Tree

Press K on your keyboard to open the skill tree interface. You'll see the main menu with three tabs: Combat, Mining, and Reset. Your current skill points are displayed at the top of the screen.

Spending Points on Skills

1. Navigate to either the Combat or Mining tab depending on your playstyle

2. Hover over individual skill nodes to see their descriptions and effects

3. Click on an unlocked node to spend one skill point

4. Some skills may require you to unlock prerequisite skills first — these appear connected in the tree

5. Plan ahead: skills branch in different directions, so consider which perks align with your survival goals

Tips for Beginners

Start with foundational skills that boost basic survival tasks. Combat skills help you fight mobs more effectively, while Mining skills speed up resource gathering. You can always reset your points later using the Reset tab if you want to try a different build.
