Hide Specific Block Textures to Use Alternatives from Lower Packs
Find and Toggle the Texture
When you have multiple resource packs loaded, Surface Detailer lets you selectively hide textures from the top pack so lower packs show through instead.
1. Open Options → Resource Packs
2. Click the Gear icon next to the pack containing textures you want to hide
3. Use the search bar to find the specific block (for example, search "oak" to find oak wood variants)
4. Locate the texture file in the list and toggle it OFF
5. Click Confirm to save changes
6. Return to the game and reload resource packs (or restart)
Verify the Fallback
Once toggled off, that texture file disappears from the active pack. The game automatically uses the matching texture from the next pack in your load order. If no pack below has that file, vanilla textures appear instead.
You can toggle multiple files at once before confirming. If you accidentally hide a texture and see purple-and-black checkerboard patterns, the mod will warn you—simply toggle the file back on or ensure a fallback pack has the texture.
