How to Configure Fake Join and Leave Messages on Vanish

Why Fake Messages Matter

When a staff member vanishes, a sudden silence in chat is a dead giveaway. SuperVanish can broadcast fake join or leave messages so the server believes the player actually disconnected or connected. This keeps your cover intact during investigations.

Configuring the Behavior

Open the SuperVanish configuration file. Look for the sections dealing with join and leave messages. You will typically find options such as:

  • Whether to disable the real join/leave messages of hidden players.
  • Whether to broadcast a fake leave message when a player vanishes.
  • Whether to broadcast a fake join message when a player reappears.

Enable the fake-message options and disable the real ones so the two do not conflict. Every message string in this plugin is editable, so you can phrase the fake join/leave text however you like — for example, matching your server's existing join format.

Testing

Vanish with /vanish and watch chat. You should see the fake leave message appear. Reappear and confirm the fake join message fires. If nothing shows, double-check that the real messages are disabled and that the fake-message toggles are enabled, then reload the plugin.
