Training and Improving Horse Stats

How Horse Training Works

In the Superb Steeds Mod, horses no longer keep fixed statistics from breeding. Instead, each horse has separate strength values for speed and jump, each ranging from 1 to 5. These values appear in an extended section of the horse's inventory GUI, so you can check a horse's current stats at any time.

To improve those stats, ride the horse with a saddle equipped. The more you ride, the more its speed and jump values increase over time. Riding without a saddle is still possible, but it does not count toward training, so unsaddled rides will not raise any stats.

Because saddles also stop horses from bucking, a saddled horse stays more controllable while you train it. This makes repeated riding the core loop: saddle up, ride, and watch the stat values climb toward their maximum.
